The Curse of the Trublutint Cars

The curse of the Trublutint Cars

2012 ended with a bang but to add just to our bad luck with cars, in March 2012 our family car AU wagon was set on fire in our drive way at home and then in August 2012 our outback did a big end bearing requiring a rebuild we then bought Lisa's dream car a 1989 Toyota Celsior (LS400) however on December 21st it was the end of the world for Miss SS Celsior, after losing traction in the wet at the lights, and then losing complete control of the car and ending up hitting a pole and fence in the process the car ended up a write off.... What will 2013 bring for the Trublutint Family - here's hoping a car that lasts the year lol

Downshift December Premeet

This past weekend we held a mini meet and cruise to the final downshift meet of 2012, there was a DJ, BBQ and a wide variety of cars, it never ceases to amaze me how many people from many different car scenes come to these meets and share their love of cars.

Justin from Flying Panda on musical duties for the day
This Mk2 escort with a rotary engine sounded nice and looked even better

B'n'S Proton Jumbuck with pink tint definitely turned some heads

It's not an event without Adric's S15, all he needs now is a front mount :P

CSR Performance Parts made an appearance in their 180

I couldn't get enough of this ISF whenever i see it it's spotless

The car park quickly got full and it started spilling out onto the road.

Here are a few more photos from throughout the day as previously stated the variety and size of these meets is growing constantly for more info stay tuned to trublutint on facebook

Home Window Tinting Myths & Facts

There are many misconceptions that surround window tinting that range from skepticism about its benefits to conflict about its aesthetic appeal. In fact, when many people think of tinted windows, the image that comes to mind may be flashy cars with dark, opaque windows-not something you would want in your home.
Window tinting is more beneficial than you might have imagined, which some do not realize due to some myths that are commonly believed. Here are some of the most common misconceptions about window tinting:
Myth 1: Tinted windows are too dark. This is not true. Getting your windows tinted does not mean that your rooms will be dark and gloomy and that you will never be able to enjoy the sunlight. Some films are designed to be almost unnoticeable so that your windows remain transparent, giving you the option of varying the brightness of your rooms with curtains or blinds.
Myth 2: Tinted windows are bad for plants. Too much of anything can be detrimental, and your plants can actually dry out from overexposure to too much sun. Having your windows tinted can keep your indoor plants healthy and hydrated by protecting them from excess heat and sunlight.
Myth 3: Tinted windows prevent you from enjoying outdoor scenery. Contrary to popular belief, not all window films are reflective. There are films that are not reflective at all on either side, and others that make your windows opaque from the outside and transparent from the inside. Having your windows tinted does not mean that you will no longer be able to enjoy the view.
Myth 4: Tinted windows make your home look unappealing. There is a wide variety of window films to choose from and you can easily pick a shade that compliments your windows. There are also films that are virtually invisible, and you can always opt for one of these, if you prefer.
Myth 5: Tinted windows are too expensive. Getting your windows tinted is actually very affordable. The cost is comparable to getting any window treatment and comes with the additional advantage of making your home more energy efficient. Window films reduce the cost of cooling by blocking out the glare of the sun and they also reduce the cost of heating by insulating your home and preventing heat from escaping. In most cases, window tinting actually pays for itself in energy savings within a few years.
Professionally installed, high-quality window tinting can make your home more comfortable and help you save on your power bill. The benefits provided outweigh those offered by other window treatment options. The fact is, there are really no disadvantages to having your windows tinted.

How best to look after your Window Tint Film

How best to look after your Window Tint Film

Now that you have taken the step to have window tint film on your vehicle, home or office windows, this section will advise how best to maintain and look after the film so that it lasts as long as possible.

1. Stop and wait 48 hours
Its a great feature to ahve window tinting on your vehicle, home or office, however dont be too excited to use or touch the windows within the first 48 hours because this is the time required for th window film to set to the glass. By opening a car window or touching the window film on an office window could shift the positioning of the film so its best to leave the window alone in the first 48 hours.
2. Don't use abrasive products to clean the film with
Cleaning and looking after your window tint film is important but when doing so make sure you don't use any abrasive materials such as scouring pads, even some sponges can be too abrasive for certain window films. The best applicating material is a damp chamois as its soft and lubricated.

Remember window film has some scratch resistance properties but it will obviously scratch more easily than glass so keep that in mind when coming in contact with it.

3. Don't use ammonia based cleaning products
When cleaning the window film ensure that you don't use any ammonia based products such as Windex Spray & Wipe. Almost every tint service provider sells window cleaners that are safe for the window film, it's not a bad idea to invest in something like this as they are great cleaners. However as as alternative you can use a damp chamois to wipe the window film first and then a microfibre towel to dry it after with a streak free finish.

The reason use can use ammonia based products is because it breaks down the window film and therefore reduces the life of the film.
